OYDA Commends Gov. Seyi Makinde for Heeding to its call to Audit Oyo LG Caretaker Chairmen

 

OYDA COMMENDS MAKINDE FOR HEEDING TO ITS CALL TO AUDIT OYO LG CARETAKER CHAIRMEN, ADIVICES THE NEWLY INAUGURATED COMMITTEE TO RECEIVE PETITIONS FROM MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC

 


Oyo Democratic Alliance (OYDA) has commended Gov. Seyi Makinde for heeding to its call to investigate and audit the financial transactions of the 68 local government areas and the LCDAs of the state from their first day of inception in office. OYDA described the step as “a welcome development”.

 

In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Wole Adedoyin, OYDA further advised the governor to allow the recently constituted committee to receive petitions from the members of the public who may have one or two things against the performance of the Caretaker Chairmen involved.

 

It would be recalled that OYDA, last week urged Gov. Seyi Makinde to audit the financial transactions of the 68 local government areas and the LCDAs headed by the Caretaker Chairmen. According to OYDA, the Auditing process should be targeted at improving probity and accountability in the 68 local government councils and the LCDAs of the state.

 

Gov. Seyi Makinde had on Wednesday inaugurated a Performance Audit Committee for Local Government Administration in the state. The committee is headed by a former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and immediate past senator representing Oyo Central, Sen. Monsurat Sunmonu. Other members of the committee include; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Bayo Lawal; Prof. Kolapo Hamzat, Mr Joseph Olaitan and Mr Aderemi Akintola.
